In this series, I will be discussing all things entrepreneurship including things I've learned a long the way.

To begin, if you're new here - Hi! I'm Mallory Mundy and I live in Far West Texas, right outside Big Bend National Park. My husband and I gave up our lives in the big city (Austin) and bought a small pizza place in the middle of the desert. I've been in sales throughout my adult work life and absolutely love the creativity that comes with selling. I'm head over heels in love with the process. From lead generation to the marketing process, all the way to the close - I thrive. So, when we went fully into business for ourselves, I was extremely excited for the process.

My mission is to help inspire others to follow their dreams by giving them support and a realistic picture of what it actually takes to be an entrepreneur. So, let's begin with LESSON #1.

Lesson 1: It's really freaking hard.

"I want freedom."

"I want to be my own boss."

"I want to be rich."

"I want to control my own schedule."

In my real estate business, I've heard this for years when interviewing new agents. Do you get all of this when running your own businesses? Yes, possibly. It will take major sacrifice - blood, sweat, and tears.

I thought all of these things when I got started in real estate almost a decade ago too. When you create or start a business, you have to realize that there is no part-time if you're wanting to succeed. You will live, breathe, and eat your business. It's never ending. It's what you think about when you go to bed, it's on your mind when you wake up, and it's the thing that jolts you out of bed in the middle of the night in a cold sweats.

We currently operate three restaurants, work in real estate, and I'm working diligently on building my brand and opening another business here in the next month. I'm addicted to it. I love it. But, it's harder than I ever thought it could be. It has tested me beyond belief and I won't lie when I say I've wanted to give it up multiple times.

You have to be prepared to be kicked in the gut over and over again. You must prep yourself for the punches. You have to get your Dramamine ready because you're about to ride the biggest emotional roller coaster of your life. You will experience the highest highs and the absolute lowest of lows. It's nonstop.

Lesson number one - it's really freaking hard.

Is it easy? Not a chance.

Is it worth it? Every single second.

If you're out there grinding, I feel you - I hear you - I'm proud of you!

Stay tuned for Lesson #2.
