Hi there! I'm Mallory.
Welcome to my little page on the world wide web.
In case you're new here, there's a lot to unpack. I'm a thirty-something entrepreneur who recently gave up the big city/ corporate life to live in a small town right outside Big Bend National Park. While I loved my time leading a very large organization in the real estate industry, I knew I needed more "life". To make a very long story short, (I'll get into this later) my husband became very ill at the end of 2020. What we both thought was Covid, revealed itself as cancer in his lung which led to an emergency life-saving surgery during a routine biopsy and the removal of half of a lung. We quickly realized that we weren't living fully and needed to make some changes. Fast forward to April of 2022 when we signed on the dotted line for the purchase of Long Draw Pizza. Now, my husband and I own Mundy Restaurant Group where we operate Long Draw Pizza and the famous, La Kiva Restaurant Bar. We work extremely hard but we can both honestly say that we're giving it our all for our family and our community. I love what we get to do!
In my downtime (which is rare), I love spending my time in the National and State Park. I have NEVER hiked in my life before this year. So, when I say I'm a "non-hiking" hiker girl, I mean it. I'm learning how to get better and go further as we knock more hikes off of our lists. I do have the very best 'hiking' buddies, my dad, and stepson. Davis, my stepson, is a creative genius who takes all of my videos and photos for social media. We love collaborating and sharing our adventures. The memories we're making are worth every sore muscle!
I think it's also worth mentioning that I have lost over 40 lbs and quit drinking alcohol this year. The environment here makes me want to live better and be healthier. So, we can dive into more of this later as well.
I decided to start this blog as a creative outlet in hopes of inspiring others to live their best & happiest lives. I'm truly a "non-hiking" girl who absolutely loves hiking and exploring our new home. I love sharing fun hikes, things to do in our area, and our love for Big Bend. Follow along for a fun and busy journey! You will quickly learn that I'm extremely outgoing - please say hi! I'd love to meet you!
Signing off,
Your "Non-Hiking" Hiker Friend
